Mary Lou’s Bio

Serafine earned her B.A. degree at Rutgers’ University and Ph.D. at the University of Florida.  She then completed post-doctoral training in psychology at Yale University. She did research in cognitive and developmental psychology, published numerous scientific articles in those fields, and served on the psychology faculties of Yale College and Vassar College.  She later published Music as Cognition (Columbia University Press).  Serafine graduated from law school at Yale in 1991, where she served as Senior Editor of the Yale Law Journal and held the Cullen Prize for writing the “best first-year paper” on jury perception of witness truth-telling and lying.  After law school Serafine practiced in antitrust, investment banking, and mass torts  litigation at an AmLaw 100 firm in Los Angeles.  She is a licensed attorney in California, New York, Texas, and the District of Columbia.  She is a member of the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court and various federal courts.  Her biography is published in Who’s Who in America.
